When is the 2017 World Series?

The 2016 World Series will go down as an all-timer between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. So when is this year’s Fall Classic going to start?

With the 2017 MLB season set to begin here in a few days, there are a few teams that already have their eyes on the prize. Last postseason resulted in one of the greatest World Series in recent memory.

Despite being down three games to one, the Chicago Cubs were able to win three games in a row to defeat the Cleveland Indians in seven games. That was Chicago’s first World Series Championship since the 1908 seasons. Cleveland now has the longest active title drought, having not won a Fall Classic since the 1948 MLB season.

As expected, both clubs should be in the mix to win big in October. Could we be seeing a rematch in the 2017 World Series? When does this year’s Fall Classic start any way?

Well, the American League an National League Champions will be decided by late October. For the 18th consecutive season, FOX will carry the World Series telecast. Game 1 of the 2017 Fall Classic is expected to start on Tuesday, Oct. 24, according to the MLB Event Calendar for 2017.

October 24 feels like a late start for the final round of the MLB postseason, but it’s in the best interest of the league get the whole thing rolling by that time. With most of the serious contenders for the 2017 World Series being from northern climates, Major League Baseball doesn’t want to be its biggest games in early November.

As Halloween approaches, the weather starts to worsen rapidly in big northern baseball markets like Boston, Chicago, Cleveland and New York. November baseball wouldn’t be the end of the world in cities like Los Angeles or Washington, D.C., but an early start date for the 2017 World Series is in the best interest of the sport.
