The Boise State Broncos are always a threat out of the Group of 5 and fans will get to see how good they can be at the annual spring game.

For the last 15 years or so, the Boise State Broncos have been the premier mid-major football program in the country. The Broncos routinely win 10 games annually and compete for New Year’s Six bowls out of the Group of 5.

Last season, Boise State came up a tad short of its usually high expectations. Boise State went 10-3, including two losses in the Mountain West and in their bowl game against the Baylor Bears. While 2016 had up and down moments, Boise State should look pretty good out of the Group of 5 in 2017.

The Broncos should be a fixture in the AP Top 25, as they return starting quarterback Brett Rypien. However, they did end up losing starting running back Jeremy McNichols to the 2017 NFL Draft a year early.

So a few questions surrounding the Boise State program heading into 2017. A few of them might be answered during the Broncos’ annual spring game. When is the Broncos spring game?

Well, Boise State will play its annual intra-squad match for Broncos Nation’s enjoyment on Saturday, Apr. 8. Kickoff from Albertsons Stadium in Boise will be at 5:00 p.m. ET. That blue turf is going to look so glorious on that early April afternoon. It always does.

While Boise State looks to be among the best teams in the Group of 5 in 2017, the Mountain West is quickly becoming one of the better mid-major conferences in college football. Teams like the Air Force Falcons, the San Diego State Aztecs and the Wyoming Cowboys will have their say in all that goes down in the Mountain West. Wyoming, in particular, might end up being Boise State’s biggest threat in getting that Group of 5 bid.
