2017 NFL Draft: Denver Broncos 7-round mock
The Denver Broncos are continuing to retool as they try to bring home another Super Bowl win. Here’s a full seven-round mock draft that helps them do it.
After winning Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos, like many champions, needed to retool. Despite not making the playoffs in 2016, their season was in many ways a success. They got a chance to review their roster and retooled it. This retooling will continue during the 2017 offseason.
A strong 2017 NFL Draft is required for the Broncos to return to the postseason in 2017. They need to address their offensive line regardless of who their quarterback will be. Whoever it is, the Broncos must surround them with playmakers as well. Their defense needs to be addressed after losing some key pieces as well. Here’s a 2017 mock draft that addresses the Broncos’ needs and gives them a lot more talent.
Christian McCaffrey is the home run pick here. The Broncos have other needs, but the son of John Elway’s former teammate has a lot going for him. Denver needs to add playmakers in the draft and there’s no playmaker in this draft like McCaffrey. He can make a huge difference whenever he’s on the field. Whether McCaffrey is running the ball out of the backfield, running a route, or returning a punt, the former Heisman Trophy finalist can impact the game in so many ways.
Comparisons are terrible because they often create unrealistic expectations. No two football players are the same. But it’s hard not to see the similarities between McCaffrey and Brian Westbrook. In Denver’s offense, he could be a very valuable weapon. If McCaffrey stays healthy and on the field, he’s going to be a serious contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year. Mike McCoy is a great offensive mind and should utilize him perfectly.
