Derek Carr writes heartfelt letter to Raiders fans regarding move to Vegas
Derek Carr took to Twitter to write a heartfelt letter to Raiders fans regarding the team’s move to Las Vegas.
Monday was an eventful day for the NFL. Owners got to vote on the potential move of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas and it concluded with a 31-1 approval. Players, coaches and fans are overwhelmed with emotion regarding the move, but Derek Carr got a chance to put it into words.
As an NFL player, starting your career in one place and then suddenly finding out that you will be calling a new city home has to be tough. Carr’s still not entirely sure what emotion to feel right now, but he did his best to explain via a letter on Twitter.
While the Raiders are still at least two years away from the move, Carr knows fans are going to be hesitant to cheer on a franchise that’s saying goodbye to a city that it has called home since 1995. Before that, the Raiders were in Oakland from 1960-81 before moving to Los Angeles.
Two moves from the city and many fans remain loyal. Carr understands the mixed emotions from the diehards and he wanted to let them know that the players and coaches still love them for all the support they’ve given the franchise over the years.

Carr isn’t completely ignoring the fact that his new home is set to be in Las Vegas a couple of years down the line, barring a trade, as he promised the new fans that they will be getting a tough and competitive team with Oakland roots.
What a cool way for the young quarterback to show his respect for the city he’s grown so close to since 2014. Not all fans will remain loyal to the franchise, as seen with the Chargers, but Carr just made fans for life.
