The Florida Gators are set to get ready for the 2017 college football season and hope to put on a show for fans at the spring game in April.

After a very successful 2016 season that saw the Florida Gators finish with a 9-4 record, they’ll be looking to improve in 2017. Everyone is anxious for the team to get back on the field for their first public showing of the calendar year. The Gators will be holding their annual spring game on Friday, April 7. For the second straight year, they’ll be opening on a weekday.

The Gators will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET. Their spring football game will be held at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, where they play their games during the season. Fans will be able to get their first look at a team that could look very different from last year’s team.

Teez Tabor, Marcus Maye, and Quincy Wilson formed an impressive trio in the secondary last season. Each of them will be entering the 2017 NFL Draft, so the Gators will have to replace them. The spring football game should give fans some hints as to who will fill the huge holes left by their departures.

Their defense is losing quite a few players. Caleb Brantley, who anchored their defensive line, is the largest loss outside of the secondary. However, one could argue starting linebacker Jarrad Davis is more significant. Bryan Cox is gone as well. The Gators will definitely have their work cut out for them as they try to replace some very good players.

Florida’s biggest question will be behind the center, as a quarterback duel will likely determine the starter. Two heavily recruited redshirt freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask will each see a lot of time in the spring game. It should be interesting to see which one of them emerges as the favorite to grab the starting job.
