Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James had his nightly “I’m just better than you” dunk against the San Antonio Spurs, posterizing center Pau Gasol.
Just about every game, Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James will attack the rim with such conviction that it will get the entire arena he is playing in to its feet. He will leap from somewhere near the free throw line and throw down a slam that will humiliate whatever poor soul is in charge of protecting the rim.
That nightly highlight reel dunk against the San Antonio Spurs came early in the first quarter Monday night. James’ posterization victim was none other than Spurs center Pau Gasol. He had no chance in stopping James in his pursuit of the San Antonio rim.

James would make Spurs power forward David Lee look foolish with a series of sweet dribbling moves. He would accelerate past Lee and lift off near Gasol’s vicinity. Gasol may be a future Hall of Famer in his own right, but he was helpless in trying to slow down James. James was like a foot higher above the rim that Gasol got. It was embarrassing.
This has not been the easiest of NBA regular seasons for James. He has had to play more regular season minutes than he probably wanted to. However, it has been required of him, as many of his teammates have succumbed to injury. James doesn’t get hurt, he just wins.

This primetime telecast on TNT between the Cavaliers and the Spurs has a bit of an NBA Finals feel to it. Both teams should be playing in the Conference Finals this spring. Cleveland will be the favorite to win the East, while San Antonio will be a worthy adversary to the Golden State Warriors in the West.
