The Oklahoma Sooners look to three-peat as Big 12 Champions this upcoming football season and their mission begins with the annual spring game.
After handling its competition effortlessly in Big 12 play, the Oklahoma Sooners will again emerge as the presumptive favorite to win the Big 12 and play for a trip to the College Football Playoff.
Two early losses in the non-conference ultimately did in the Sooners last year, but Oklahoma has to be on the short list of National Championship contenders heading into 2017. While their star quarterback Baker Mayfield had some off-the-field issues going on in Fayetteville, he will play a big part in Oklahoma’s quest for another national title.
The first step in Oklahoma’s quest for College Football Playoff relevancy will be to have a good showing at their annual OU Spring Game. It’s really more for the fans than anything, but these spring games happening across the Power 5 can often foreshadow how an upcoming college football season will go.
So when will the Sooners play the Sooners for all of Boomer Sooner Nation to enjoy? The 2017 OU Spring Game will be underway on Saturday, Apr. 8 at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman. Kickoff will be at 2:00 p.m. ET. Sooner Sports TV and FOX Sports Southwest will have the telecast.
This should be a great event going on in Norman. The fans are always rabid and they should have a great team in 2017. However, there is a notion that the fanbase is growing restless of just being a power in the Big 12. Will this be the year that Oklahoma prevails over another Power 5 team in the College Football Playoff?
