FanDuel NHL Blue Line Power Plays: March 28
By Matt Rogers
Welcome to the FanDuel NHL Blue Line Power Plays column for Tuesday, March 28th. We have a robust NHL schedule to pick through for tonight’s lineups and we’re going to review some of the best plays of the night. We will also look at several value options for affordability. Tonight’s salaries are for FanDuel NHL on Tuesday, March 28th only.
With eleven games on the NHL schedule tonight, the options for your lineup picks is overwhelming. We’re going to narrow our search down to only four games and stack picks in our FanDuel NHL lineup. Here’s a look at the schedule of games we’re focusing on tonight:
Red Wings at Hurricanes (7pm ET)
Predators at Bruins (7pm ET)
Oilers at Kings (9pm ET)
Ducks at Canucks (10pm ET)
The Hurricanes are hosting the Red Wings for the second-straight night. The Cane’s lost 3-4 against the Red Wings in overtime, on a Athanasiou goal. Tonight, the Hurricanes will have Ward in net and I expect they will be seeking revenge on their own ice.
The Predators offense has cooled off after a hot late February and early March. But they’re visiting a Bruins team in Boston who’s only won a single game in their last five match ups. The Predators could give the Bruins a rough time tonight.
The Oilers and Ducks are both an attractive option on road ice. The Kings and Canucks have struggled lately. But the Kings will have Quick back in goal and he’s played well lately. So while I’d like to get some exposure to the Oilers offense in L.A., I’m more interested in stacking a red-hot Ducks team.
Let’s head to our center picks…

The Anaheim Ducks are on a roll lately and so is the Ducks top line, led by Ryan Getzlaf ($8,000). Over the last four games, Ryan has eight assists. That’s an incredible run, but four of those assists came on Sunday, when the Ducks hosted the Rangers. We had Getzlaf in our lineup that night and it was a great result (36.1 FanDuel NHL points). Ryan and the top line will continue to roll in Vancouver tonight. We should see Getzlaf involved in at least one scoring result and a total of at least 15-20 FanDuel NHL points.
Elias Lindholm ($5,500) was quiet last night, when the Hurricanes hosted the Detroit Red Wings. Lindholm only had two shots on goal and a total of 3.2 FanDuel NHL points. But in the ten games leading up to last night’s match-up, Elias had ten straight double-digit FanDuel NHL point results. Lindholm was averaging nearly 14 FanDuel NHL points-per-game. Elias and the Canes should bounce back tonight and we should see about 10-14 FanDuel NHL points from Lindholm.

At wing, we’ll use our first two picks to stack Rickard Rakell ($6,200) with Getzlaf on the Ducks top line and Sebastian Aho ($5,800) with Lindholm on the Hurricanes 2nd line.
Rakell has been scoring around 20 FanDuel NHL points each game lately. Over the last five games, Rickard has two goals and three assists. While Rakell isn’t putting up many 30+ FanDuel NHL point results, he’s been scoring double-digit points more consistently than most wingers. Rickard has a great match up against the Canucks as well.
We already discussed how we think the Hurricanes 2nd line will bounce back against the Red Wings tonight. Aho had three goals and three assists, over only four games, heading into last nights game. Last night’s game ended his six-game scoring streak. Sebastian will start a new streak tonight.
We’re adding a third Hurricane to our lineup with winger Teuvo Teravainen ($4,500). Teravainen gives us exposure to the Canes top line and he’s been hot lately. Even though Teuvo had no goals or assists last night, he still had five shots on goal and a blocked shot piling up 9.6 FanDuel NHL points. Teuvo had a goal and two assists over the last five games. With roughly 17 minutes of ice time against the Red Wings on home ice tonight, Teuvo should exceed 10 FanDuel NHL points tonight.
Finally, with plenty of money left, we’re going to pick a top play from the Oilers, Leon Draisaitl ($7,200). Leon has been unstoppable on the ice lately, with four goals and ten assists in the Oilers last seven games. Yes, Draisaitl is due to cool off soon, and he’s facing a tough Quick in goal tonight. But, I’d rather ride Draisaitl while he’s hot and not be the only one with him out of my lineup if he goes off again tonight.

We have one more slot for the Ducks left in our lineup and I’m going back to Cam Fowler ($4,900) once again. I’m shocked Fowler’s salary is still under $5K. He’s consistently productive on the ice, spending 23-28 minutes on the ice each game.
Even when Fowler isn’t involved in scoring results, he’s so active on the ice he has several shots on goal and blocked shots, leading to nearly 10 FanDuel NHL points each night. But over the last two games, Fowler has three assists and around 15 FanDuel NHL points per game. With the matchup in Vancouver, Fowler stays hot tonight.
I like the Predators in Boston tonight, so I’m trying to get some exposure to their top line. With little salary left, I’m going to look for a value pick, and Ryan Ellis ($4,900) fits these needs perfectly.
Over the last five games, Ellis is averaging around 20 FanDuel NHL points-per-game. Like Fowler, Ellis has been very active on the ice. While he has three goals and three assists in the last five games, he had neither against San Jose last Friday, but he still had two shots on goal and five blocked shots. That was good enough for 11.2 FanDuel NHL points. Ryan should get us close to 20 FanDuel NHL points again in Boston tonight.

We love the Ducks tonight, but we used all four Anaheim options on offense and defense. But we also like the Hurricanes tonight, and Cam Ward ($7,900) is back between the pipes for the Canes. Cam is 3-3 in his last six starts. But all of his three losses were in over time, and he had an average of 30 saves per game in those three losses.
On the 19th in Philadelphia, the Hurricanes lost in overtime, but Ward had 40 saves. He ended the game with 16 FanDuel NHL points, but was very close to 28 points. If the Cane bounce back like we expect tonight, Ward should have between 25 and 35 FanDuel NHL points, which is fantastic considering his very cheap salary.

Always check NHL lineups throughout the day when playing FanDuel NHL. The NHL isn’t overly forthcoming with injury news, and players are often scratched at the last-minute with little information. Also, goaltenders are never a sure-thing. Follow us on twitter, @fantasycpr, for updates as we get closer to lineup lock time. Good Luck today FanDuelers!
