5. Brian Bowen II, SF, No. 15

Brian Bowen II, affectionately nicknamed “Tugs,” is a 6-foot-7 wing out of La Lumiere in La Porte, IN. At this stage, the 18-year old is still considering five schools: Arizona, Creighton, Michigan State, North Carolina State and Texas. 247 Sports currently pegs the Spartans as the favorite with the Wildcats close behind. Either spot would pose an interesting challenge for Bowen given that both rosters will likely have a decent number of talented wings available next season.

Bowen is an exciting prospect given his length and the importance of wings in the modern game. Although he needs to add strength to his frame like many 18-year olds — he weighs in at around 175 pounds right now — he has the potential to use his length and athleticism to develop into a versatile defender over time.

Bowen is most prized, though, for his scoring ability, whether attacking the basket off the dribble or pulling up from the perimeter. Again, like many young prospects, Bowen isn’t a refined shooter yet and he struggled during EYBL play over the summer, but the potential is there for him to develop into a long-range threat.

Whatever school lands Bowen will be getting an important playmaker who should be able to contribute quickly as a freshman.
