4. Brandon McCoy, C, No. 11

Five-star center Brandon McCoy is a 7-footer who is still considering five schools, including Arizona, Michigan State, Oregon, San Diego State and UNLV. At this point, 247Sports lists the Ducks as the favorite to land the standout big man who would make a nice addition to a team that is already in the Final Four this season. McCoy told Scout that he could be ready to make a decision on where he’ll play his college ball in the next few weeks.

McCoy is an enticing defensive prospect who uses his length to both protect the rim and crash the defensive glass. Those are two skills that stuck out as the 7-footer played alongside fellow five-star prospect DeAndre Ayton for California Supreme on the AAU circuit. Given his size and motor, McCoy should be a productive college player next season even if he mostly just contributes on the defensive end.

Long-term, there are more questions. McCoy has a wingspan that is just over 7-feet and doesn’t have great explosiveness in terms of his leaping ability. Both of those things could hinder his ability to translate what he does well in high school and college to the professional level. Still, McCoy figures to be a nice add to whatever team lands him when he makes his decision this spring.
