2. Trevon Duval, PG, No. 5

Trevon Duval is the top-ranked point guard in the class of 2017 and he seems to be waiting to see what draft decisions several players currently in college will make. As of now, Duval is considering five schools: Arizona, Baylor, Duke, Kansas and Seton Hall. The Blue Devils are currently the favorite, which makes sense given that the team didn’t have a true point guard on its roster and may need significant backcourt help if both Grayson Allen and Luke Kennard leave for the NBA.

At 6-foot-3 with a 6-foot-8 wingspan, Duval has great size for the point guard position and his athleticism has regularly been on display during a senior season that has featured some highlight reel slams. The 18-year old is a really good ball-handler who does a great job of attacking teams off of the dribble either in transition or in the halfcourt and once he gets to the rim, he’s one of the best finishers in the class. Duval is also a solid playmaker for his teammates and should be ready to lead a team right away.

The biggest concern for Duval is his jump shot. While his athleticism and speed allow him to be a valuable offensive piece, his lack of a consistent 3-point shot could be a hindrance to his development. It appears to be a skill he’s been working at improving, though.
