Legion season 1 finale: watch online

How and where can you watch the Legion Season 1 finale, “Chapter 8,” online?

In the final sequence of “Chapter 7,” Legion really turned up the tension. Division 3 captured David, Melanie and the others. Simultaneously, David’s newly found control over his mind and his powers seemed to be slipping. Lenny/the Devil With Yellow Eyes/the Shadow King managed, in it’s flailing, to crack the roof of the coffin-like place it had been confined to by Cary’s device. This was reflected in reality by the reappearance of the Angriest Boy in the World. We don’t yet know exactly what the Shadow King’s plans are, but I can’t see it taking too kindly to being found out and then imprisoned, however briefly.

Judging by the promo for “Chapter 8,” which you can watch HERE, the Shadow King’s rage may be taken out on the soldiers of Division 3 who captured David and the others at the end of “Chapter 7.” Also, it’s unclear if Melanie noticed the reemergence of the Shadow King, regarding her comment to the interrogator about David being a world-breaker. I mean yes, he is, or rather he could be. But I don’t know that the real David would do that, judging from what we’ve seen of his real mind so far.

The finale has a lot of loose ends to tie up, but some of the conflicts may be left open-ended to carry over into season 2. I expect these to include one of the villains, but I’m not sure which. Division 3 has been a threat all season. They were alerted to David’s presence and his powers when Syd lost control of his body, and they were the ones interrogating David in the pool before he broke out with the help of Melanie’s group. However once David made it to Summerland they faded into the background for a while and weren’t even all that threatening when David rescued his sister. This may actually help their chances of sticking around for season 2, though, because they have not been a central player in the conflict during season 1.

The Shadow King, on the other hand, has been the main obstacle for David throughout season 1. This creature edited David’s memories of his past at will and messed with how he perceived the world in the present. Being more central to the narrative of the first season makes the Shadow King a more likely victim in the finale. However, if the show wants to continue to draw from the comics somewhat thematically, the Shadow King is a longer lasting presence. It also provides a point of connection between David and his father, as explained in “Chapter 7.” If Hawley is planning to explore that relationship further, or at all, he would need another connection between them if the Shadow King were eliminated in the season 1 finale.
