No. 17: Jim Ross

Twitter handle: @JRsBBQ

Before I even start with Good Ol’ J.R., I would like to join everyone in sending my heartfelt condolences to Jim for the loss of his wife Jan recently. Stay strong, Jim. We’re all with you and support you to the fullest.

It’s hard to put into words what Jim Ross means to professional wrestling. He’s the greatest play-by-play man in the history of the business and no disrespect to the greats before and after him, this isn’t a debate and the gap between Ross and his closest competitors in this situation isn’t close.

When you go back and watch some of the classic Attitude Era matches with Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and on and on, it’s Jim Ross (alongside Jerry “The King” Lawler) that help make those matches so memorable. His passion for the business, his sharp eye for talent and his love for the business were second to none. The only thing Jim loves more than wrestling is the Oklahoma Sooners. (BOOMER SOONER.)

That’s noticeable when Ross tweets, too.

This was probably his most important and most accurate tweet in recent days.

I wanted to include this in here because this is the first podcast Ross had done since his wife’s tragic passing. Wrestling fans need to hear this. As much as we – and I say we as fans – sometimes forget that these men and women are humans just like us. I hope you guys and gals take the time to listen to this.
