Southampton and Bournemouth enter week 30 of the Premier League season level on points with 33. The Saints sit one spot ahead of Bournemouth in the table due to their superior goal difference.
Southampton have taken a slight step back under first-year manager Claude Puel. That’s not unexpected after the Saints sold Sadio Mane to Liverpool in the summer for a club record fee. Nathan Redmond has been the best summer buy for the Saints. The 23-year-old has scored five goals this year. If Redmond continues to perform, a bigger club may attempt to buy him in the summer.
Despite being in charge of the smallest club in the Premier League, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has found a way to keep the club in the top flight for another season. The Cherries were able to get seven of nine points in March and will almost certainly survive relegation. Bournemouth have been led offensively by Norwegian striker Joshua King. The 25-year-old has scored 11 goals for the Cherries. King had one of the best games in the Premier League this season when he scored a hat-trick against West Ham on March 11.

Southampton defeated Bournemouth 3-1 in the previous meeting between the two clubs this year. Although it would be nice to see another four-goal game, it’s difficult to envision Saturday’s game being high scoring. After losing in their previous game to Tottenham, Southampton will want to get back in the win column.
