UConn hasn’t lost in 111 games. Twitter had a lot to say about that.
UConn Women’s basketball has finally lost. It took 111 games, a stout defensive performance by Mississippi State, overtime, and an insane buzzer-beater to do it, but UCONN has fallen.
Everybody lost their minds when it happened. Even when UCONN was down at halftime there was still a feeling that they would eventually come back and win it no problem. That’s actually what it looked like they were going to do. The eight-point deficit was closed within minutes. It should have been business as usual from there.
Except Mississippi State wasn’t going to be denied. Not after losing by 60 to this team last year. They wanted their revenge and they were going to get in the most cruel way possible: a rip-out-your-heart-and-stomp-on-it-game-winner.
Of course, there was a lot of dramatics leading up to that point. So much so that the nerves started to get to everybody involved, including Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Dak Prescott.

With a close game in overtime, UCONN dribbled up the floor with little time remaining. Away from the ball, two players got tangled up with each other leading to a push in the face. Per college rules, this is an automatic flagrant foul. People were not happy.
Big time flop. https://t.co/EagkBqANDw

UCONN used that flagrant to tie up the game. Then they messed up. They used their chance to win the game, or send it into a second overtime, to make a run at the basket way too early. It looked as if they were trying to force a foul, but their unsuccessful attempt just led to a turnover for UCONN.
Now it was Mississippi State’s chance and they weren’t going to waste it. The play was drawn up, and they gave it to Morgan William. She went down in history as the giant killer.

UCONN lost. Everybody was stunned unsure of how to react to what they had just seen. That or they yelled clanga a lot.

Many were just impressed with the achievement.
Beating UCONN is a bigger achievement than winning the title tbh

While others were just happy to witness it.
Well that was the greatest women's basketball moment I've ever seen...still love Geno and Katie Lou❤️❤️ UCONN still the greatest

Next: Mississippi State upsets UCONN at the buzzer
If anybody was excited though. It was Mississippi State fans. The fanbase doesn’t always get much to cheer about and knocking off the biggest giant in sports is a pretty incredible moment.
I DON'T EVEN CARE IF THEY WIN THE TITLE BUILD ALL OF THOSE WOMEN A STATUE ON CAMPUS ALL OF THEM THEY ARE LEGENDS FOREVER

Whether they win the championship or not at this point feels irrelevant. They did something that at the start of the tournament seemed impossible.
That’s impressive in itself.
