DraftKings Main NBA Picks April 2

There are seven late games tonight, making this our busiest Sunday main DraftKings tournament in quite some time. There are plenty of good options available, so let’s check out who can win us some money!

More from DFS

The money line last night was all the way up at 291.25 DraftKings points, which is one of the highest totals of the season! There were a lot of big nights to go around. The “value” pick of Kris Dunn was enough to kill both of my lineups, though good nights from Ricky Rubio, Jimmy Butler, and Devin Booker still got me close.

The winning lineup was a tie at 366 DraftKings points. There wasn’t a whole lot of separation between the money line and the winning lineup. It is usually well over 100 points. Tonight it was only 74.5. The winner capitalized on Rajon Rondo, Aaron Gordon, and Elfrid Payton along with the good value of Nikola Mirotic and Noah Vonleh.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to watch our Twitter feed right up until lock time. We will try and relay the information out to you as soon as we can, along with any lineup changes. If you can’t do that, it may be best to avoid any of the later games. With the season running down, playoff contenders are sitting players more and more, and there isn’t always a lot of advanced notice.

Point Guards

Best Bets:

James Harden ($12,500): Harden has 174 DraftKings points in only three games against Houston this year. He did all that damage in just 93 minutes! There is the potential for this game to be a blowout. Let’s face it. You don’t lose 11 straight on accident. There is a chance that Harden wont reach value because of that, but he still is one of the few that can drop 80 on any given night.

Stephen Curry ($9,600): Curry has stepped up his game as the playoff chase is heating up. The Warriors want home court advantage! Curry has at least 5x value, even at this price, in five of the last six games. John Wall wont provide much resistance here. Expect another good game from Curry.

Honorable Mention:

Goran Dragic ($7,700): Dragic has three straight games of more than 5x value with Dion Waiters out. The Heat are battling for a playoff spot, and before you say that are just Cavaliers bait, realize that the Heat have beaten them three times this year. This team could be a tough out if they get in. However, there is still some regular season left to go, and more time for Dragic to lead this team to the promised land.

Dennis Schroder ($7,400): Schroder has racked up 128.75 DraftKings points in 100 minutes over three games against the Nets this year. He has at least 6x value in three of the last four games. There is a chance that the Hawks starters rest if this becomes a blowout, but the Nets are actually scoring a lot of points lately. This game could stay close, which means Schroder will go way over 6x value.

Tyler Ulis ($7,200): Ulis has actually struggled with his shot lately, but those of us who have used him in DFS wouldn’t know. His prolific passing skills are keeping his point totals up. Ulis has played at least 40 minutes in three straight games. As long as the Suns keep riding him like this, he is a sure 5x value, and could break out with a huge game if he starts hitting shots.

Dark Horses:

Rajon Rondo ($6,900): Rondo has at least 44 DraftKings points in three straight games. He is playing at a very high level right now, and is making the rest of the team better around him. The Bulls are in the hunt for a playoff spot, so expect them to run Rondo until the wheels fall off.

Jeff Teague ($6,700): Teague has averaged 44.4 DraftKings points in three games against Cleveland this year. It is not a fluke. The Cavs are not playing well right now, so it is conceivable that Teague could have an even bigger game tonight. He has shown at times this year that he is capable of it.

Patrick Beverley ($5,000): Beverley has averaged 39.1 DraftKings points in three games against the Suns this year. Perhaps more important is that Beverley could get more run down the stretch with the bench players when this gets out of hand. At any rate, he has a superb chance to hit value no matter how this game turns out.

My picks: Rondo(PG)

DraftKings
Apr 1, 2017; Portland, OR, USA; Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker (1) drives up the court as he gets past Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum (3) during the second half in a game agains the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center. Shooting Guards

Best Bets:

Jimmy Butler ($9,700): Butler continues putting up huge lines with Dwyane Wade out, and the Bulls are better for it. Rondo playing at a high level also allows Butler to do what he does best: score. Butler now has at least 5x value in nine straight games, and has gone over 6x value three times in that span. He will get at least 5x tonight.

Devin Booker ($7,800): Booker now has five straight games of more than 5x value. Twice he has been over 7x value! Booker is very hard to fade right now as he has been on fire of late. The Suns have lost 11 in a row, but it is of no fault of Booker’s. He has done everything possible to keep his team in the game.

Honorable Mention:

Bradley Beal ($7,300): Beal picked up 38 DraftKings points against the Warriors in the first meeting. With the Warriors shutting down Wall, it is likely that Beal will be relied upon to carry some extra scoring weight. We all know he is capable of coming up big. Will he tonight?

Tim Hardaway Jr. ($6,100): Hardaway is still prone to the occasional off game since he relies a lot on scoring, but they are fewer and farther between lately. The Nets are bad. Hardaway is not. This could be a big game for him.

Dark Horses:

Lou Williams ($5,800): Phoenix is a shooter’s paradise. With Ryan Anderson still out, Williams is seeing a few more minutes off the bench. And you know him. He loves to shoot. Phoenix loves to give open shots. It’s a match made in DFS heaven, or so it seems. Williams is averaging 37.3 DraftKings points in three games against Phoenix. He should be somewhere near that tonight.

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot ($5,000): TLC has at least 26 DraftKings points per game over the last three games. With Robert Covington being sat for the rest of the season, the minutes will still be there. The production should be too.

Sean Kilpatrick ($4,000): Kilpatrick has 5x value in the last two games, and seems to be fitting right into his role before the injury. He is still cheap enough to use right now, and is a certain 5x value, which is pretty hard to find at this price.

My pick: Butler(SG), Luwawu-Cabarrot(G), Kilpatrick(UTIL)

DraftKings
Mar 29, 2017; Memphis, TN, USA; Indiana Pacers forward Paul George (13) controls the ball against Memphis Grizzlies forward James Ennis III (8) during the first half at FedExForum. Mandatory Credit: Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

Small Forwards

Best Bets:

LeBron James ($10,000): LeBron has over 5x value in seven of the last ten games. However, with Cleveland playing poorly, it is still a risk to use him. It can go both ways. On one hand, LeBron could just be carrying the team like dead weight on his shoulders. Or he could be resting during the game due to public outrage over the rest issue. Whatever it is, I’m avoiding this with so many other good options.

Paul George ($8,100): George has played well against the Cavs this year. He is averaging 41.2 DraftKings points per game over three games against them. George has at least 5x value in six of the last nine games. I trust him more than LeBron right now. And this would be the King’s cue to go off tonight…..

Honorable Mention:

T.J. Warren ($7,100): Warren has at least 22 DraftKings points in every game since seeing his role increase for the Suns. He will continue to start and play at least 30 minutes per game, which gives him plenty of chances to get 5x value. He may not have a big game against Houston, but this will be a high scoring game. I definitely want exposure to this game.

Danilo Gallinari ($5,900): Gallinari has his minutes back up to where they were before he sat a couple of games with an injury. He is still cheap enough to take a chance on due to his ability to score at a high rate. With Will Barton possibly out, Gallinari could see a few more minutes that usual.

Trevor Ariza ($5,900): Ariza has seen a pretty big uptick in production with Ryan Anderson out. That likely wont change as Houston has people to pick up the scoring, but the rebounding and defensive chops go to Ariza. He has averaged 27.8 DraftKings points per game in three games against the Suns. I’m thinking he hits at least 30 tonight.

Dark Horses:

Andre Iguodala ($5,100): Iguodala has at least 5x value in all but one game in Kevin Durant‘s absence. His price has stayed low enough that he is welcome salary relief with some upside on a team that is hitting its stride. You can do a lot worse.

Justin Anderson ($4,800): Anderson is starting in Covington’s absence, but has not been particularly consistent. The inconsistency is maddening in DFS formats, but when he gets it going, he is a great value since he isn’t all that expensive.

Taurean Prince ($4,600): Prince is still starting at small forward with Paul Millsap sidelined. Again, as with most younger players, his production has been inconsistent. However he is playing a Nets team that has taken the Denver Nuggets approach. Score a bunch of points and don’t worry about defense. Prince has the potential for far above his value.

My Pick: Prince(SF)

DraftKings
Mar 31, 2017; New Orleans, LA, USA; New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis (23) celebrates from the bench with forward DeMarcus Cousins (0) during the fourth quarter of a game against the Sacramento Kings at the Smoothie King Center. Power Forwards

Best Bets:

Anthony Davis ($9,900): Davis destroyed Chicago in the first meeting with 64.5 DraftKings points in that meeting. Davis and Cousins have both put up big games concurrently, so fading one because the other is there isn’t always the best option. Guessing which one is going to produce is an effort in futility, but tonight they both could have big games.

Draymond Green ($7,500): Green dominated Washington in the first meeting with 52.5 DraftKings points. He hasn’t had consistent production in Durant’s absence, but this is a great opportunity for him to go off again. You are playing with fire here though. He has been under 4x value four times in the last seven games.

Honorable Mention:

Kevin Love ($7,400): Love is still working his way back into the fold to get in playoff shape. The team doesn’t want to rush him, so he hasn’t taken on his full minutes load yet. However, he had his best game since his return eight games ago against Philadelphia on Friday. He can build on that against a weak Pacers front.

James Johnson ($6,400): Johnson keeps producing at least 25 DraftKings points per game from his bench role, and often much more. He has been over 40 in three of the last eight games. That would be a tall order against Denver, but he did put up 35.25 DraftKings points against them in the first meeting.

Nikola Mirotic ($6,200): Mirotic has been playing at a high level in Wade’s absence as well. Both he and Jimmy Butler are working well together as the Bulls grapple for a playoff spot. The thing to take away from this is Mirotic had 31.25 DraftKings points against the Hawks yesterday despite going just 2-8 from the field. He had nine rebounds and five assists to put him over 5x value anyway.

Dark Horses:

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson ($5,600): This is more a play if Millsap sits again. Since Millsap practiced mostly in full on Friday, it isn’t known whether he will play or not. If he does, I don’t like RHJ going against Millsap. I like him much better against Ilyasova, so keep an eye out for the starting lineups before making this decision.

Marquese Chriss ($5,400): Chriss has at least 5x value in seven of the last ten games. He has been as high as 7x value in three of those games. Chriss has a ton of potential, and I like him even more working against Harrell over Ryan Anderson. He racked up 42.75 on Portland last night. He could come close to that again.

P.J. Tucker ($4,000): Tucker has 53.25 DraftKings points against Philadelphia this year. Without Covington around, his road gets a little easier today. Tucker could be a really good value play for those of you that need one.

My pick: Davis(PF), Tucker(F)

DraftKings
Mar 18, 2017; Denver, CO, USA; Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic (15) reacts after being called for a foul during the second half against the Houston Rockets at Pepsi Center. The Rockets won 109-105. Mandatory Credit: Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Center

Best Bets:

DeMarcus Cousins ($10,200): Cousins has 120.5 DraftKings points in two games against the Bulls so far. Chicago still has no answer for him or Davis. I can see both of them having big games. Maybe not in the 60’s like they are accustomed to against the Bulls, but definitely over 5x value.

Nikola Jokic ($9,400): Jokic put up 42 DraftKings points on the Heat in the first meeting. He could go for even more tonight. Whiteside allows a ton of points against him despite his ability to block shots. Jokic has the athletic ability to run circles around him. He just might.

Honorable Mention:

Dwight Howard ($8,100): This is another play that hinges on Millsap’s status. Howard is a solid play at any rate, but he could be a great play with Millsap out again. Brooklyn has taken an apathetic stance on defense, but they are still scoring enough points to keep them in most games. If they stay in this one, it means lots of value for Howard.

Hassan Whiteside ($7,600): Whiteside put up an impressive 57.5 DraftKings points against Denver in the first meeting. Circumstances are different now, but at this price, Whiteside could still see plenty of value for this price. Enjoy it while it lasts. It wont be long.

Dark Horses:

Richaun Holmes ($6,300): Holmes put up two really good games against Atlanta in Cleveland. We know the minutes are there since both Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid are shut down. The production just hasn’t been as consistent as we would like. However, Holmes seems to be coming around lately. He could be worth taking a chance on.

Jonas Valanciunas ($5,900): Valanciunas had 101.5 DraftKings points in three games against Philadelphia earlier this year in just 28 minutes per game. He tangled with a lot bigger and better players than Holmes along the way as well. Valanciunas could have a big game again tonight.

My pick: Valanciunas(C)
