North Carolina knocked off Oregon in the Final Four. Here’s what Twitter had to say about that and the insane ending.

North Carolina is going back to the National Championship for the second year in a row. It wasn’t pretty, and at times it felt like they weren’t going to make it, but they defeated Oregon in the Final Four to lock their spot. Was it a team of destiny? A group so determined that even the basketball gods were on their side? Hard to say, but with the way this one ended it sure felt that way.

North Carolina played great the entire game and late in the second half it felt like they had Oregon figured out. They were scoring with relentless efficiency, and Justin Jackson in particular was making them pay. The long third year guard had himself a game and probably raised his draft stock up a bit too. Oregon had no answer for him, and Twitter was extremely impressed with his skill.

Then, with less than five minutes to go, Oregon charged back and brought it to single digits. Time wasn’t on their side, but Carolina just couldn’t put down the determined Ducks. Not only that, they kept making simple mistakes that had their fans wishing they were doing anything but watching the game. The stress was too much to bare.

Then it got worse. With Oregon down one, and the shot clock turned off, North Carolina was at the free throw line attempting to extend their lead. Except they couldn’t make a basket. This happened not once, but twice. Somehow Oregon couldn’t grab the rebound. In an absolute stunner, North Carolina ran out the clock entirely on missed free throws in what has to be one of the most backwards ways to enter a National Title game, ever.

With that, North Carolina will move on to face Gonzaga after they defeated South Carolina. As one Twitter observer noted this was not a good day for bird like mascots.

Some fans are just glad it’s over.

Others are interested in the matchup at hand.

Then the rest want to see what they can do with a second chance.
