One of the most beloved gaming franchises of all-time is Jak and Daxter. This year, those games will be coming to the PS4.

At long last, we’ll finally be able to play Jak and Daxter games on the PS4. In an announcement trailer released by PlayStation, it has been revealed that the PS4 classics will be coming to the PS4 sometime this year via download. These are some of the greatest and most enjoyable games ever.

Back in 2001, Naughty Dog followed up the incredible Crash Bandicoot series with Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. Of course, everyone loved this game, which spawned three sequels. Those games were Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing.

They are 3D platformers that tell an interesting story. You can compare them to Ratchet & Clank. The games focus heavily on the story, yet there are many other gameplay elements that really add to the enjoyment. For example, there’s plenty of action, a bunch of racing and many puzzle-solving moments. You put them all together and you’re in for a fantastic time.

Check out the trailer below:

In Jak and Daxter, you play as Jak. Jak is the main protagonist throughout the entirety of the series and is a humanoid elf-like being. Daxter is your companion, who resembles a mix of an otter/weasel. He’s extremely helpful in all of the games and he’s also playable in certain aspects.

In The Precursor Legacy, you learn that Jak accidentally transformed Daxter into an ottsel and your main objective is to try and reverse what Jak has done. As stated, the game is full of action, but there are plenty of humorous and heartfelt moments.

Next: Spider-Man game rumored to release this year

We should learn more about this at E3 2017, but we sure hope this means that we’ll get an entirely new game in the future. Ratchet & Clank is the perfect example as to why this should be done.
