It’s Opening Day for Major League Baseball and it’s time to kick off the 2017 season with the Toronto Blue Jays visiting the Baltimore Orioles.
The Blue Jays and the Orioles have been battling it out in the American League East, with both teams finishing the season with an 89-73 record and tied for second in the division. Both teams have kept a majority of the players from last season intact on the roster, so there will definitely be a battle for the postseason happening in the AL East this season. The Orioles seem to have the upper hand coming out of Spring Training, with a 16-14 record compared to a 12-18 record from the Blue Jays.

Leading off on Opening Day for the Blue Jays is Marco Estrada. Estrada was 9-9 in 2016 with a 3.48 ERA in 176 innings of work. Estrada is known for his smoking changeup; it’s so good that teammate Aaron Sanchez comes to him for help.
Kevin Hausman will be on the mound for the Red Sox. In 2016 Gausman was 9-12 with a 3.61 ERA. He has been working on his slider, which developed from his curveball and needed to be developed into its own pitch in the offseason. With a mastery of both pitches coming into the season, expect to see Hausman’s numbers go up in 2017.
