It’s Opening Day, and the Cincinnati Reds host the Philadelphia Phillies to begin the 2017 MLB season.

Two rebuilding squads square off in Cincinnati as the Reds play host to the Philadelphia Phillies to open the 2017 season. Jeremy Hellickson is expected to take the mound for the second straight Opening Day for the Phillies. Last year, Hellickson and the Phillies also faced the Reds, and the right-hander allowed just one unearned run on three hits in six innings.

Last season, Hellickson posted a 12-10 record and 3.71 ERA with 154 strikeouts in 189 innings spread across 32 starts. Led by Odubel Herrera, Tommy Joseph, Freddy Galvis, Maikel Franco and newcomers Michael Saunders and Howie Kendrick, the Philadelphia lineup hopes to build upon its 71-91 record from last season.

Feldman, along with an Opening Day lineup that features star slugger Joey Votto and speedster Billy Hamilton, as well as All-Star Adam Duvall and a host of promising young players, hopes to help Cincinnati off on the right foot following a disappointing 68-94 record last season.
