The Washington Redskins are trying to file some holes late in free agency, and did a nice job by signing Zach Brown to anchor the front seven.

Zach Brown has found a home and its in the nation’s capital. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Brown agreed to terms with the Washington Redskins this afternoon during his visit to the facility. It is Brown’s third known visit during free agency which included stops in Miami, Oakland and Buffalo about a potential return to the team, but Brown’s asking price seemed out of the Bills range. Details and length of the contract are not yet known at this time.

Brown figured to be one of the first linebackers off the free agent board, but it was believed that he was seeking big money following a Pro Bowl season. In Buffalo as one of the few benefactors of being in Rex Ryan’s defensive scheme, Brown thrived with149 combined tackles and one interception.

Brown joins Mason Foster, Preston Smith, Will Compton and Su’a Cravens in the middle of a defense that struggled against the run, ranking 24th this past season. Washington hopes that Brown can provide a thumper in the middle  to contain Ezekiel Elliott in Dallas as they attempt to regain the top spot from the Cowboys in the NFC East.

With this signing, Washington likely eliminates the need for first-round inside linebackers such has Hassan Reddick, Zach Cunningham and Jarrad Davis.  Washington can now focus in on offense to find weapons for franchised -quarterback Kirk Cousins. A few options would be Dalvin Cook, Christian McCaffery, John Ross and Corey Davis. Washington could also focus on the defensive side, adding another pass rusher off the edge.
