Mark your calendars for the return of USC football with the Trojans spring game later this month.

USC team is coming off a successful 2016 season. They started poorly, losing three of their first four games, looking like they were in for a disappointing year. Alabama destroyed them, 52-6, and Stanford and Utah beat them in road games.

Well, things turned around for the Trojans afterward, as they won their final nine games of the season, including the 2017 Rose Bowl. It’s no surprise it happened when Sam Darnold took over as the quarterback in the fourth game of the season, against Utah. That turned out to arguably be his worst performance of the year, as everything else from the freshman signal caller was remarkable, turning in a season no one could have expected.

By the time the Rose Bowl closed, Darnold looked like a star. He turned in five touchdowns against Penn State and helped lead USC to victory, 52-49.

Expectations will be bigger for Darnold and the Trojans in 2017, as they may be a National Championship game favorite. It all starts with spring practice, though, which will allow new and returning players to mesh and prepare for what’s to come in five months.

Eventually, the spring practices will lead to the annual spring game, which pits one half of USC Football against the other. This will be seen on Saturday, Apr. 15 from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, CA.
