Wizards felt ‘disrespected’ by Warriors
By Kareem Gantt
The Washington Wizards felt disrespected by the Golden State Warriors towards the end of their blowout loss in Oakland.
Who knew that a meaningless 3-pointer by the Warriors’ JaVale McGee would cause so much controversy with the Washington Wizards?
Well, it did, with Brandon Jennings and John Wall, anyway.
According to ESPN.com’s Chris Haynes, the Wizards are whipping out the “disrespect” card after McGee decided to launched a 3-pointer at the end of the Warriors 137-115 thrashing of the Wizards on Sunday night. Jennings didn’t take that shot attempt too well. After McGee launched the shot, he slammed him to the ground, for which Jennings was rewarded with a Flagrant 1 foul.
According to Haynes, Wizards star guard John Wall chimed in after the game, saying, “Yep, totally agree. Whenever a team is up like that, supposedly, you just hold the ball and take a shot-clock violation.”
Jennings, who should have been in Orlando at WrestleMania 33 instead of Oakland, piggybacked on Wall’s comments, saying, “It was very disrespectful. Thank God he didn’t go to the rack, it probably would have been worse for him.”
Okay, so when should a team just “run out the clock” in a game where the opposing team simply didn’t show up?
It’s not the Warriors fault that Washington got thoroughly embarrassed by one of the best teams in the NBA. If the Wizards didn’t want to feel “disrespected,” then maybe they should have played better as to avoid that sort of situation.
That’s a great idea, isn’t it?
At least McGee isn’t having any hard feelings about the incident with Jennings. “I’m glad Brandon fouled me,” McGee told the reporters. “I was going to air ball that 3. Shout out to Brandon Jennings.”

And a shout out to the Wizards, who should put the disrespect card back in the deck and focus on the next game.
