5. Matt Kuchar

It won’t be just Bubba Watson that has his alma mater buzzing about him at Augusta National. Matt Kuchar play his college golf at nearby Georgia Tech in Atlanta. While Kuchar hasn’t had the success at Augusta as has Watson, he has played better at Augusta than in any major.

Kuchar’s best finish in a major did come in the 2012 Masters, interestingly the same one that Watson won his first Green Jacket. It was the first of three straight top-10 finishes for Kuchar. His third place finish in 2012 was the best he has ever done in a major tournament.

Kuchar has made the cut nine out of 10 teams he has played in the Masters. Like many of his contemporaries on the PGA Tour, Kuchar tends to pick up momentum throughout the season after a good showing in Augusta.

OddsShark has Kuchar at +8,000 odds to win the 2017 Green Jacket. Outside of a seventh-place finish in the 2015 PGA Championship, Kuchar hasn’t done much in major tournaments since finishing fifth in the 2014 Masters. At 38 years old, Kuchar may be running out of time to win a major on the PGA Tour. Maybe he and Watson could be in the final pairing for the whole Peach State to lose its collective mind?
