With the NFL Draft just weeks away, Leonard Fournette looks as good as advertised. He should be the first running back taken off the board.
If you’re a fan of an NFL team that had an awful rushing attack in 2016, allow yourself to dream. That’s if your team is drafting in the top 10, anyway. Reports out of Baton Rouge say that LSU running back Leonard Fournette set his pro day on fire. Here’s a taste.

Fournette is putting in some serious work. Last month at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, the scales read 240 pounds. For April’s showcase, he’s trimmed down to 228.
After the workout Fournette spoke with ESPN’s Tom Luginbill about the statement he’s trying to make with the weight loss.

Fournette shattered records at LSU, setting or tying 23 school marks. His 1,953 rushing yards as a sophomore are the most in a single season for any Tigers running back.
He wants teams to know that he’s not a one-dimensional player, and that he’s capable of positively impacting a team in a number of different ways.
Give Fournette credit. With the draft rapidly approaching, he’s saying and doing all of the right things. The 2017 draft will be held April 27-29 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art .

Fournette could go to the Carolina Panthers, who might be looking for the future with Jonathan Stewart both aging and injury prone. That would be one heck of a backfield with Fournette and fellow SEC alum, Cam Newton, playing a little read-option.
