With the regular season upon us, one would think that MLB rosters are pretty much set. And for the better part, you would be right in assuming that.

But along the edges some minor moves have been made in the past 24 hours with depth for the MLB squads in mind.

Rockies release Motte: A former closer is set to hit the free-agent market after the Colorado Rockies announced they have released right-handed reliever Jason Motte. Motte had been a reliable closer as recently as 2012, when he put up a 42-save season for the St. Louis Cardinals. After signing a two-year contract with the Rockies before the 2016 season, Motte fell on tough times, battling a rotator cuff injury and scuffling to a 4.94 ERA in the first year with his new club.

Aaron Barrett re-ups with the Nats: Despite not having thrown a pitch in the Major Leagues since late in the 2015 season, Aaron Barrett has managed to secure a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals as he continues to battle back from the Tommy John surgery that has taken him out of action for more than a full season.

Giants close to minors deal with Drew Stubbs and Ryan Webb: The San Francisco Giants are closing in on a pair of depth moves, as it appears they have signed reliever Ryan Webb, and are nearing a deal with outfielder Drew Stubbs. Stubbs could end up seeing time with the big league squad, as injuries have taken a toll on the teams outfield depth. Webb, who is coming off a rough season with the Tampa Bay Rays, has been listed as part of the Opening Day roster for their triple-A squad.

Other deals of note: Desmond Jennings signed a minor-league deal with the New York Mets. The Cincinnati Reds claimed former Rule 5 pick Tyler Goeddel. The Milwaukee Brewers have claimed infielder Nick Franklin from the Tampa Bay Rays. Mike Pelfrey agreed to a minor league deal with the Chicago White Sox.
