On the heels of the 2017 NFL Draft, one of the top safeties in this year’s class runs a blazing 40 time at his pro day.

With the NFL Draft approaching in a little over three weeks, one of the draft’s top safeties, Jamal Adams, improved some of his combine numbers, especially his 40 time.

Adams has been regarded as the top safety in this year’s draft by ESPN NFL draft analysts Mel Kiper Jr., Todd McShay, and NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks. LSU hosted their pro day today and Adams’ performance might of just separated him from the likes of Ohio State safety Malik Hooker.

Adams performed well in front of the likes of Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, Lions head coach Jim Caldwell, Titans head coach Mike Mularkey, Jets head coach Todd Bowles, and general mangers Jerry Reese of the Giants and Jon Robinson of the Titans.

The Titans (selecting fifth and 18th overall) and Jets (selecting sixth overall) both have top-10 selections, where Adams has been projected to go in majority of mock drafts.

Here’s how Rob Rang of CBS Sports and NFLdraftscout.com describes Adams on his big board:

"“It is easy to mistake Adams for former LSU Tigers star Tyrann Mathieu, given their similar instincts and highly aggressive playing style. Like Mathieu, Adams possesses the agility and speed to handle coverage duties on slot receivers, soft hands for the interception and is a tenacious run defender. Adams’ kamikaze style of play can lead to occasional mistakes but he is always around the ball.”"

Adams has the look and feel of an impressive prospect at the safety position for the next level and many would agree to that statement. It’ll be interesting to see where he lands and how high he goes in the upcoming draft.
