Tony Romo was looking to find a new team to play for this free agency period, but will instead spend the 2017 NFL season in the broadcast booth.

While it was a fact that Tony Romo would not be spending the 2017 NFL season as the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, nobody could have seen his latest move coming. Romo, who will be released by the Cowboys, will be retiring from football, and will begin his broadcasting career. The former Pro Bowler will replace longtime CBS broadcaster Phil Simms in the booth for the upcoming season, in a move that pretty much shocked the entire football world.

With Romo retiring, where does that leave the Houston Texans? The Texans were the front-runners to land Romo, who lost his starting job to Dak Prescott last season. Now that Romo is off the board, the Texans may have to look at current free agents like Ryan Fitzpatrick or Jay Cutler, though they could just stick with Tom Savage for next season. The Texans also draft at No. 25 in this month’s NFL Draft, where they may decide to roll the dice on a quarterback.

Thursday Night Football changed up the viewing landscape in 2016, as fans were able to view the games through the social media app, Twitter. In 2017, fans can once again view a live stream of the game, but this time on Amazon Prime. Prime will not be giving out the goods for free however, as fans will have to pay to watch the ten games they are going to stream next season.

The Baltimore Ravens moved up in the third round on Tuesday, trading away one of their best defensive interior lineman in the process. The Ravens traded Jimmy Jernigan and a compensatory third round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for their third rounder. The move enabled the Ravens to move up 25 spots in the draft, while the Eagles got one of the better interior pass rushers in the AFC North last season.

Finally, a day after meeting with Adrian Peterson, it appears the New England Patriots may be headed towards a reunion with a former running back. LeGarrette Blount and the team reportedly have a mutual interest in working on bringing the veteran back in 2017, giving them one of the main cogs in the machine that won the Super Bowl last season. Blount’s return would be a solid pickup for the Pats, though the two sides are apart on money at this point.
