Report: Adrian Peterson set to visit with the New Orleans Saints
Adrian Peterson continues to make his free-agent tour across the country, with his next stop in New Orleans with the Saints.
One of the top running backs in the free-agent market still remains unsigned: Adrian Peterson. The ex-Minnesota Viking has been visiting with numerous teams, but can’t seem to strike a deal yet.
So far, the 32-year old has visited with Seattle — who then signed free-agent RB Eddie Lacy — and New England.
Now, Peterson will reportedly visit the New Orleans Saints, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Saints have running backs Mark Ingram and Travaris Cadet on their roster and would need to work Peterson into the fold.
New Orleans is known for its pass-heavy offense, but might be looking to scale back with quarterback Drew Brees in the back nine of his career.
Peterson rushed for nearly 1,500 yards in his last full season with the Vikings back in 2015. In 2016, he battled injuries that caused him to miss 13 games.
It’ll be fascinating to see what the ex-Viking running back has left in the tank, with a lot of wear and tear on his body from 10 seasons in Minnesota. Based on the number of visits he’s had so far, teams seem to think that his value in the league may be at an all-time low.
With a deep running back draft class, it might be unlikely that Peterson gets signed before the draft. The Saints were not a team that many experts considered to be in the free-agent running back market.

Is Sean Payton genuinely interested in signing Peterson, or if they’re just doing their due diligence? Only time will tell, but for now it looks like Peterson will make his next stop in his free-agent tour, heading to the Bayou.
