Anquan Boldin confirms he will play a 15th season in NFL
Anquan Boldin confirms that he will play a 15th season but still needs to decided what team he will join next.
After playing the past season with the Lions, Anquan Boldin was contemplating hanging up the cleats. He seems to have had a change of heart and Jamey Eisenberg today confirmed that Boldin would play another season. But where will he play?
Boldin showed that he could still be a productive receiver in the NFL. Last season he primarily played in the slot and was a good third down option for the Lions. He racked up 584 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. He helped the Lions clinch a playoff spot last season with a couple of impressive catches. The Lions have shown some interest in bringing him back, but money could be tight for the Lions, especially with a big contract coming up with Stafford.
Boldin has had an impressive career, worthy of the Hall of Fame. He’s a three-time Pro Bowler and won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens. He’s had seven, 1,000-yard receiving seasons, five with the Arizona Cardinals and two with the San Francisco 49ers. He might not be the elite receiver he used to be, but he keeps himself in the best shape possible. At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds he’s a hard receiver to bring down.
Any team looking for a reliable receiver should take a look at Boldin. He brings veteran leadership to the offense and could be a good role model to any young receivers. One team that needs depth at receivert is his former team, the 49ners. Last year the 49ers top receiver was Jeremy Kerley. With Kyle Shanahan coming to town he could explore signing a player like Boldin.
Boldin will most likely sign a one-year contract, knowing that this next season will most likely be the last, and a reunion with the 49ers would be a nice way to close out his career.
