Former Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch may be returning for the 2017 NFL season, and his hometown team may be the beneficiary of his services.
The Marshawn Lynch saga continues to captivate the NFL world, and on Wednesday, he made waves once again. Lynch visited the Oakland Raiders facility, again adding fuel to the first that he may be coming out of retirement. Lynch reportedly told the Raiders he was going to be back on the field in 2017, and a meeting with head coach Jack Del Rio may be the final piece of the puzzle in bringing him to his hometown team.
Speaking of those Raiders, team owner Mark Davis is probably the most hated man in Oakland right now, after the team announced they will move to Las Vegas. However, Davis may not be such a villain, as he apparently offered to sell 20 percent of the team to the Oakland A’s in an effort to stay in the Bay Area. Davis wanted the A’s to sign off on the two franchises building stadiums on the Coliseum grounds, but the A’s were not willing to stay on site if the Raiders did as well.
Peyton Manning will not be joining Tony Romo in the broadcast booth, despite the fact he is absolutely hilarious in his television commercials. Manning would instead like to become a general manager one day, which he would do an incredible job doing as well. Romo retired from football this past week, and quickly was given the No. 1 analyst spot at CBS, replacing Phil Simms for the 2017 season.
While Romo will be in a jacket on Sundays next season, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback did not rule out a return to the NFL. Romo dodged questions about whether he was done for good, instead giving a “never say never” response. The Cowboys will head into next season with second-year man Dak Prescott under center, but you have to think team owner Jerry Jones will be on the horn with Romo if Prescott gets hurt at some point during the year.
Finally, some NFL Draft news, as one star running back had quite the Pro Day on Wednesday. Leonard Fournette, who had a disappointing performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, showed up at his Pro Day 12 pounds lighter, which was to the delight of the scouts in attendance. Fournette not only showcased his abilities running the ball, but also in the passing game, where he went over and caught passes with the wide receivers after his time at running back was finished.
