Digital Foundry has officially revealed the specs for Microsoft’s next console, Project Scorpio. It definitely looks like something special.
When it comes to the current console generation, there’s no doubt that Microsoft is severely lagging behind with the Xbox One. It’s a shame considering the Xbox 360 was successful. That being said, when it comes to the latest Microsoft console in progress, Project Scorpio, things are looking very promising. The Xbox team is trying to create the most powerful console ever and get back on track.
In an article published on Eurogamer, it shows that Digital Foundry was able to get a first look at the specs for Project Scorpio. Based on what we’ve read and what we’ve seen. this console is shaping up to be something special.
At E3 2016 last year, we were a bit confused as to what this was exactly. There were rumblings that it wasn’t an entirely new console and it would still be compatible with the Xbox One. At that point, we just thought it was something along the lines of the PS4 Pro, which is a superior PS4 console. We feel this is something entirely new. But, at the same time, it also seems to benefit your Xbox One and Xbox 360 library.
The video below gives a more detailed approach about the specs. Check it out:
Project Scorpio is much more powerful than the PS4 Pro. It contains a larger processor, more memory space, faster performance when it comes to the hard drive, and a superior cooling unit. Unfortunately, we’re expecting that this’ll be a bit more expensive. However, paying for quality is no problem.
As we all know, PC’s are the master race, especially when it comes to gaming. They’re so much more powerful than consoles when it comes to performance, resolution, and memory. Scorpio seems to be very similar to all of this. PC’s are expensive, but consumers have no problem dropping thousands of dollars on one. It’s no problem because it’s worth it. The Scorpio delivering the same experience will be hard, but it’s definitely doable.
To speak more on the Xbox One/Xbox 360 library feature, it seems the Scorpio will support these games. With this console, these classic games will play and look better than ever. It’s great that this console will support backwards compatibility. Check out the video below to get a better understanding:
There’s no doubt that Microsoft wants to win their fans back here. They want to deliver a true 4K experience with this extremely powerful console. However, a console is nothing without its games. We feel that’s the Xbox One’s biggest issue. They need to deliver when it comes to gaming content, not just performance.
