4. A battle-tested roster

While the team is losing a bunch of veteran players this year, that does not mean there is not a ton of talent returning. We will get into the talent the roster will have next season, but the fact that they are battle-tested is what should enable them to return to a third consecutive Final Four. Some of the players who will be juniors and seniors on the team next season have already played in two national title games, making them the most experienced team heading into next season.

Roy Williams has proven during his time with Carolina that he can win the big games, and he could actually have four titles had it not been for a heartbreaking loss to Villanova last year. The coaching staff has been through the fires of the NCAA Tournament, and will head into next year with not only a point guard who has been to two title games, but also players like Luke Maye and Theo Pinson, who came up big during this year’s tournament.

When it comes time for the tournament, all records are thrown out the window, meaning experience is what gets you to the next round. This Carolina team, if eligible, will head to the 2018 NCAA Championship full of confidence, as their key players know what it takes to cut down the nets. Returning to the title game was extremely hard for the Tar Heels this past season, and while a third trip to the Final Four will be almost unprecedented, the pieces are in place for another run.
