Kabam has taken Transformers from all over the franchise’s rich history and matched them against each other in its latest mobile fighting game.
When you figure out how to make an awesome mobile fighting game like Marvel Contest of Champions, there’s always a question of what you do next. If you’re Kabam (now part of Netmarble), you apply that expertise and expand upon it with a fighting game based on another super popular IP, which is what the company’s Vancouver studio has done with Transformers: Forged to Fight.
Out now for both iOS and Android devices, Transformers: Forged to Fight imagines Optimus Prime and some human allies on the way to Cybertron to restore the home world of the Transformers to its former glory. On the way there, his ship crashes on a mysterious planet, where he encounters Autobots and Decepticons both familiar and new.
With bots from multiple realities converging on this strange world, Optimus Prime must summon some reinforcements and fight his way to the bottom of the mystery. That’s where you come in, assembling a team of Transformers from the movies, toys, animated series and more to battle one-on-one with other bots. At the same time, you have to build a base and defend it from other players’ attacks, as resources are scarce and everyone is after the same things.
What you’ll notice if you’ve played Marvel Contest of Champions is that the gameplay basics are the same, but with some twists like ranged attacks and defensive sidesteps. The base defense gives you a map of your own to call home and makes every bot on your roster useful.
The visuals are also in 3D to allow for the new depth to combat, and the animations are stunning. Multiple game modes include a main story mode, arena, daily challenges and more.
“Transformers: Forged to Fight brings together some of the most powerful Autobots and Decepticons from nearly every generation of the Transformers franchise,” Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President, Digital Gaming and Corporate Development at Hasbro, said in a press release “The team at Kabam has created a truly remarkable Transformers experience, and we’re confident that fans and gamers will be thrilled with the game.”
Transformers: Forged to Fight is a free download with optional in-app purchases, and is available now in the iOS App Store and Google Play.
