2017 NFL Mock Draft: Jets, Browns land quarterbacks
By Brad Weiss
The Philadelphia Eagles have been very busy this offseason, bringing in some quality weapons on the offensive side of the ball. While Jordan Matthews did a nice job at wide receiver last season, he is not a WR1, so the Eagles made it a priority to bolster the position this offseason. The Eagles brought in Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery to help Matthews at the wideout position, giving second-year starter Carson Wentz a plethora of options next season.
While the wideout position looks set, the running back position is far from it. Last season, the Eagles used the tandem of Darren Sproles and Ryan Mathews, which is definitely not how they want to go into the 2017 season. Look for the Eagles to draft a running back at No. 14, and while Dalvin Cook is the popular pick, we feel Christian McCaffrey is picking up steam.
McCaffrey had an exceptional showing at the NFL Scouting Combine, and has the kind of skills a player like Wentz would love to have in the backfield. Not only can he run over, or around the defense, he is also very good in the passing game. The Eagles took a big step forward this offseason, and McCaffrey could be the final piece to a possible playoff puzzle.
