Marlon Humphrey

CB, Alabama

What is going on in Seattle? A couple months removed from head coach Pete Carroll saying the only reason Richard Sherman looked so bad in the playoffs was because he was hurt, and the team is ready to trade him away. Not only is the team fielding offers, but they are also reaching out to teams, which means Sherman’s time in the northwest may be coming to a close.

Regardless of what happens with Sherman, this team needs help at the cornerback position as they head into the 2017 season. The team is going to get Earl Thomas back, which is going to bolster the defensive backfield, but they were seriously exploited against the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs last season. Marlon Humphrey could be a player who goes early in round one, but if the chips fall they way they are in our mock, he should be available at No. 26 if teams pass on him early.

Humphrey is the son of a former NFL running back, so he knows the kind of work ethic it takes to make it in the league. He is a very good cornerback, who was really the backbone on an Alabama defense that had one of the better secondaries in college football last season. The Seahawks are going to be good whether or not Sherman comes back, but losing him would make bringing in a cornerback at No. 26 not only a need, but a necessity.
