Mitchell Trubisky

QB, UNC

This is a pick that has hounded me over the past few months, as you can never get a gauge on what this franchise is going to do. The New York Jets have drafted a quarterback in each of the last two drafts, including spending a second-round pick on Christian Hackenberg last year. Still, they have no clue who their quarterback is going to be next season, so they might as well take another stab at one in this year’s draft.

Mitchell Trubisky started only one season for the North Carolina Tar Heels, but did enough to warrant him leaving school early for the draft. He has all the tools to be a very good quarterback at the next level, but his experience may cause him to fall in this draft. We have seen him picked everywhere from No. 2 to No. 27, so it is anybody’s guess as to where he will be selected in a couple of weeks.

The Jets brought in Josh McCown this offseason, and he will likely get every opportunity to start in 2017. The organization also got rid of most of its veteran talent, as they departed with Darrelle Revis, Brandon Marshall, and Nick Mangold to name a few. Head coach Todd Bowles is in the third year of a four-year deal, and while it will be vital for him to win now, the organization has to be looking towards the future with such an early pick.
