Richard Sherman rumors: Corner asked Seahawks for a trade
By Conor Myles
Apparently Richard Sherman was the one who initiated trade discussions with the Seattle Seahawks.
The ongoing saga of the Seahawks trading Richard Sherman just gets more interesting by the day. Now it’s being reported that Sherman, not the Seahawks, was the one who initiated the trade talks.
ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter announced on SportsCenter that Sherman approached Seattle about a possible trade, according to Seahawks beat writer for ESPN, Sheil Kapadia.
This is a completely different turn of events than what we’ve been accustomed to the past several days in regards to the Sherman trade rumors. The picture was always painted of the Seahawks being the ones letting Sherman know that he’s not irreplaceable, but maybe he’s the one pulling the strings in this situation.
It’s been well-known that Seahawks general manager John Schneider has not shot down any trade rumors for the team’s star cornerback. Now it’s looking like the team was honoring Sherman’s trade request.
Sherman did speak to Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com about potential trade rumors and his feelings towards them this week.
"“Very little chance it happens, but both sides are listening,” Sherman said. “I honestly don’t have anymore to say on it than I already said. We have a great relationship. There is a lot of love and respect. There is no bad blood.”"
The Seahawks asking price for Sherman has been also reportedly very high, which makes it look like the star cornerback will remain with the club in 2017.
NFL Network NFL Insider Ian Rapoport confirmed these reports.
"“Potentially a first-round pick,” Rapoport said. “Potentially a very good player on a low contract and a pick as well.”"
