The Golden State Warriors have announced partnerships with select vendors to fill their dining options at their new facility in San Francisco.
The Golden State Warriors have been by far the best NBA team in the state of California over the past few seasons. In their new facility, they hope that the Chase Center Arena food will deliver similarly successful California favorites.
According to Justin Phillips of the San Francisco Gate, the Warriors have contracted Bon Appetit Management Company and Levy Restaurants to take care of the dining operations in the venue. With that announcement, fans can start looking forward to some of the local delicacies that Bon Appetit/Levy have culminated.
The current selections involve five small, family-owned bay area eateries. The five are Bakesale Betty, Big Nate’s BBQ, Hot Dog Bill’s, Sam’s Chowder House and Tacolicious.
Bringing in successful local eateries to existing and new sport entertainment venues makes sense for the facilities and the sports teams who serve as their anchor tenants for several reasons.
The first is that these businesses have their own brands that the local audience is not only already familiar with, but view favorably. Aligning themselves with these brands can have a positive effect on the perception of the teams and venues then as well.
Secondly, incorporating high-quality and innovative dining options has become as much of a trend at sporting events as premium seating options. Without gourmet-level cuisine, the Chase Center/Warriors aren’t competitive.
Finally, it’s more cost-effective to bring in local small businesses than national chains. There is some education for the restauranteurs in terms of serving people en masse, but once that is out of the way, the margins for all parties can be lucrative.

The traditional game-day fare will still be available at arena concession stands, but San Francisco fans will get to enjoy the burger dogs and fried chicken that these local properties have become famous for right along with them.
