DraftKings Late MLB Picks For April 8

There are ten remaining games on our first baseball Saturday. There are some good options in our late DraftKings slate, and some not so good. Let’s get to separating!

More from DFS

Due to time constraints, you are just getting my lineup and the theories behind it. I will go back to the regular strategy when time permits.

Robert Gsellman has never faced the Marlins, but his career numbers across the board are good if you want to go cheaper on pitching.

Chad Kuhl has never faced the Braves, but there is potential here. Both ways, actually. Kuhl could have a solid game, or he could get blown up. Place your bets!

The current Diamondbacks squad is just 3-18 with eight strikeouts against Trevor Bauer. It is a small sample size, but Bauer is there is you want him.

P: Kyle Hendricks ($9,000): There are bigger names on this slate than Kendricks, but it would be foolish to ignore his total domination of the Brewers. Milwaukee is just 9-60(,150) against Henricks with only one run and an amazing 25 strikeouts. He could score up there with Madison Bumgarner and Clayton Kershaw and still leave you money to pay for hitting.

P: Adam Conley ($6,800): Conley has baffled the Mets so far in his career. The Mets are only 17-76(,224) against him with just two runs scored an 18 strikeouts. We need to go cheap somewhere to afford some of these big bats, and I feel safer with Conley than other pitchers at his price.

C: Buster Posey ($3,800): Posey is 9-19(.474) with two walks, a double, and a solo homer against Jhoulys Chacin. Posey may be worth the premium since Chacin got lit up in his first start of the year. There will be a lot of Giants on the bases tonight.

1B: Stephen Vogt ($3,500): No one’s numbers really jump off the page here, so this is the last position I filled, and I did it based on salary. That and Vogt is 6-19(.316) lifetime against Yu Darvish with a pair of RBI. He shouldn’t get zero, and that was the goal here.

2B: Robinson Cano ($4,000): Cano has beat up on Ricky Nolasco (who hasn’t, right?). He is 6-12 with a double, two homers, and three RBI off of Nolasco. We are getting some crooked numbers tonight in Anaheim. Cano’s promise to be among those.

3B: Danny Valencia ($4,100): Valencia’s 3-12 against Nolasco is nothing to write home about, but he has a double and a solo homer. The only other third baseman I considered was Nolan Arenado. I then decided that stacking Mariners had far more chance of succeeding than Arenado against Kershaw.

SS: Corey Seager ($5,400): I am paying the Coors Field premium in one spot with good reason. Seager is 5-10 with three walks, a double, a homer, and two RBI against Jon Gray already in his young career. The Dodgers could put up some big numbers tonight, and next to stacking Mariners against Nolasco, is my favorite of the evening.

OF: Nelson Cruz ($4,100): Cruz’s Boomstick has been relatively quiet so far this year, but that may change tonight. Cruz is 4-15(.267) with a walk, a double, three homers, and four RBI lifetime against Ricky Nolasco.

OF: Bryce Harper ($4,900): Harper has absolutely punished Aaron Nola. Harper is 7-11 with a walk, two homers, and five RBI against Nola.

OF: George Springer ($4,400): Springer is 3-6 with three walks, a triple, two homers, and five RBI against Danny Duffy. He has hit him hard and often. I doubt that changes tonight.
