Former D-backs hurler Trevor Bauer makes return to Arizona to tangle with Zack Greinke, and the result could be a duel for the under.

Following a 1-1-1 day, I seek better fortune on this first Saturday of the season after sustaining a tough-luck push in Tomlin vs. Miller Over 10, which was 7-3 in the fifth, yet we somehow couldn’t muster another run the rest of the way. Let’s see what I have for today’s slate.

Cleveland Indians @ Arizona Diamondbacks
Trevor Bauer vs. Zack Greinke
UNDER 9.5 (Odds via OddsShark)

I must say, I was definitely not expecting this premium pitching matchup to draw an over/under line this high, as we have two starters on the bill tonight in Arizona capable of a complete shutdown performance that can carry this under bet alone.

Of course, Zack Greinke is one of the more well-known aces in the game today, and although he’s coming off a relatively down year in his inaugural campaign with the Diamondbacks, he did show enough in his season debut last Sunday that would lead you to believe he’s on track for a bounce-back. The former AL Cy Young award winner can be counted on here for some quality pitching.

His opponent is someone who is very familiar with the D-backs, Trevor Bauer, considering he was drafted No. 3 overall by the club in 2011, only to make four starts for them the following year before he was dealt to his current home in Cleveland.

Bauer enjoyed his best full season in 2016, going a career-best 12-8 with a 4.26 ERA to solidify his standing on the Cleveland pitching staff. If you’ve seen him pitch, you know very well he’s capable of more than that, and he’ll be especially motivated in getting his season started off right given his familiar opponent for this evening. The 26-year-old is also one of the more mentally-oriented pitchers around, and that should ensure he gives under bettors a desirable outing.
