The Ole Miss Rebels begin rebuilding after a rough 2016 when they hold their spring football game on Saturday, April 8. Here’s how you can watch it.

After a nightmare 2016 season, the Ole Miss Rebels will look to rebuild their reputation, both on and off the field. On the field, they only managed to win five games and won just two conference games. Off the field, various transgressions have come to light. Due to this, the Rebels have a self-imposed postseason ban for the 2017 season. Despite the pitfalls, fans are excited to see them take the field. The team will hold its annual spring football game on Saturday April 8 starting at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Taking the field will be a team of mostly new starters. None of them are more important than quarterback Shea Patterson. He did well after replacing Chad Kelly in 2016. While Patterson’s season didn’t end well because he wasn’t prepared, he showed immense talent. He’s a dynamic quarterback who is an excellent dual threat, capable of making plays with both his arm and his legs. A full offseason of preparation should prove to be valuable for Patterson. Phil Longo will be taking over for the Rebels’ offense. Hopefully his offense will utilize Patterson’s unique skill set because he’s a different quarterback than Kelly.

The Rebels will hope to turn around a defense which was among the worst in the SEC in 2016. They’ll be adding some very intriguing recruits to help them do so. Several of them could prove to be immediate contributors. With a new defensive coordinator in Wesley McGriff, the Rebels should be able to see improvement in 2017. Ole Miss might not make the playoffs in 2017, but the future is still bright for the Rebels.
