Lardarius Webb will return to Baltimore after being released by the Ravens earlier this offseason.

Lardarius Webb’s time in Baltimore looked like it was coming to an end when the team decided to release him earlier this offseason to save some cap space. Now it appears that Webb will re-sign with the Ravens at a reduced rate.

Jeff Zriebec of the Baltimore Sun has reported that the Ravens have signed Webb to a new three-year deal to keep him in Baltimore for the foreseeable future.

At the time of his release, the Ravens saved $5.5 million this season by cutting him. He also took a $2 million pay to cut in 2015 to stay with the team. His new deal figures to be a lot cheaper given the new deal.

Webb’s time with the Ravens figured to be over when the team signed former Cardinals safety Tony Jefferson this offseason. Jefferson figures to start opposite of Eric Weddle as a terrific safety tandem in Baltimore.

Webb, 31, has been with the Ravens for his entire career as a former 3rd round pick from Nicolls State back in 2009. In 2016, Lardarius Webb played safety for Baltimore after primarily playing cornerback earlier in his Ravens tenure. In his first full season as a safety, Webb played quite well as Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 15th best safety in the NFL. This past season he recorded 73 tackles and one interception while appearing in all 16 games.

According to Spotrac.com, the Ravens had a little more than $11 million in cap space prior to re-signing Webb. Baltimore has made their secondary a priority this offseason also adding Tony Jefferson and cornerback Brandon Carr.
