Golden State Warriors’ Kevin Durant made his return to the hardwood Saturday after missing games due to his knee injury. In his much anticipated return, Durant failed to disappoint, going baseline for a dunk on his first basket.

After spraining his MCL when Zaza Pachulia fell into his knee in an unfortunate play in Washington, Durant made his return to the hardwood against the Pelicans Saturday night.

The Golden State Warriors and their fans have been anxiously waiting for this moment, especially since Durant was originally slated to be out longer.

Well, no need to fear. In his first game back, Durant took a pass from Draymond Green and slammed it home for the basket.

The Warriors’ social media team said it best and this was a welcome sign for fans in Durant’s return.

Before the injury on Feb. 28, Kevin Durant was leading the Dubs with 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He was arguably the team’s best player in their first 59 games.

The Warriors have been on a tear recently without Kevin Durant, winning 13 games in a row and clinching the No. 1 overall seed heading into the playoffs.

Some might credit Klay Thompson for signing a toaster, while some attribute it to Stephen Curry’s MVP-like return without Durant.

With Durant out, the Warriors started out losing, but then found their rhythm and have ripped off a lot of good wins, including signature ones over Houston, San Antonio and Oklahoma City.

Curry is out on Saturday with a knee contusion, but no need to worry, as one MVP sits out with an injury, another one returns to the court.

The Warriors are taking on a Pelicans team that’s no longer fighting for a spot in the playoffs and looking to position itself for the NBA Draft.
