In his last NHL game, Bryan Bickell got a Hollywood ending to his career with a shootout goal.

The Carolina Hurricanes didn’t have Bryan Bickell for very long. After trading for him last offseason, the forward spent just a year with them. However, Bickell will eternally have a special place in his heart for the Hurricanes.

Due to a multiple sclerosis diagnosis he will have to retire. However, Carolina made sure to send him off the right way. In his final NHL game, the Hurricanes got into a shootout with the Philadelphia Flyers. Bickell got a chance and he scored.

What a heck of a way to end a career. Bickell gets mobbed by his teammates, who have been very supportive of him through his ordeal. Even Flyers fans cheered him on. Carolina’s a class act to give Bickell the send off he deserves.

He has done many things throughout his career. With the Chicago Blackhawks, Bickell won three Stanley Cups. He got two career playoff overtime game-winning goals. Bickell put up 17 points in 23 games during the 2012-13 Cup run. He’ll retire with 395 games played. Bickell has 66 goals and 70 assists for 136 points in his career.

Bickell overcame a lot just to get back on the ice. Wisely, he will retire. But thanks to the Hurricanes, Bickell got one last moment of joy. He might have a career in coaching. Don’t be surprised to see him at a Blackhawks game in the not so distant future.
