Julio Teheran and Gerrit Cole could provide enough solid pitching to help register an under.

Man, when you sustain a bad beat like we did in that under last night, you just want to turn the page and get going with the next daily slate. But easily, a real brutal outcome in last night’s best bet, as Bauer vs. Greinke was 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth and 5-1 in the bottom of the eighth, with Under 9.5 cruising along smoothly. And then unlikely chaos occurred to stick us with a defeat.

Julio Teheran vs. Gerrit Cole

UNDER 8 (-110) (Odds via OddsShark)

It’s a little surprising to see this stud pitching matchup draw an over/under line of 8 (though it did open up at 7.5), especially since it’s emanating from PNC Park on this Sunday afternoon, but that’s something that could ultimately be opportune for under bettors.

Both of these perennial top-of-the-rotation starters endured similar beginnings to their season debut last Monday, as both carried a scoreless donut into the fifth frame. However, only Teheran would end up unscathed, as he would go on to log six shutout innings with six strikeouts on the road at Citi Field. He’ll also benefit from Pittsburgh trotting out a lineup that contains some light-hitting backups.

Gerrit Cole did not manage to escape any damage, as the Red Sox hounded him for five runs in his fateful fifth inning, but that could be attributed to the frustration of yielding three infield singles in a short timespan.

Last season, Cole was considerably better at home, which is where he’ll be today in his second 2017 assignment, and the 26-year-old should churn out better results. It will also help that the scorching Matt Kemp is out of the lineup. One gem of an outing from either of these right-ganders could do the trick.
