Former big league outfielder for the Atlanta Braves Otis Nixon has been missing since late Saturday morning after missing his tee time.
It wasn’t all green on the golf course in Georgia this weekend. During Masters week in Augusta, former Atlanta Braves outfielder Otis Nixon has gone missing since leaving for a tee time in suburban Atlanta on Saturday morning.
Nixon left his residence around 10:00 a.m. ET ready for a day on the links, but didn’t show up for his tee time on Saturday. This is scary news, as Nixon has had his issues with substance abuse issues in the past. The Woodstock Police are looking for Nixon and his 2011 gray Range Rover.
WSB-TV in Atlanta reports that Nixon “left [his residence] wearing a black long sleeve shirt, black sweatpants and a black baseball cap, with black Adidas shoes with white stripes.”
Nixon played 17 years in the big leagues from 1983 to 1999 for nine different organizations. Known for his blazing speed on the base path, Nixon amassed 620 career stolen bases, including 72 with the 1991 worst-to-first Atlanta Braves.
1991 was Nixon’s best season as a professional. He played centerfield for an Atlanta team that came out of nowhere to win the National League West, the National League pennant and take the American League Champion Minnesota Twins to seven games in the 1991 World Series.
Nixon’s signature moment is one of legend in the Greater Atlanta area. During Atlanta’s unconscious 13-game winning streak in summer 1991, Nixon would leap higher than most humans thought possible to rob Pittsburgh Pirates slugger Andy Van Slyke of a certain home run.

It is one of the greatest leaping catches in baseball history. Fate would have it that Atlanta would beat the National League East champion Pirates in the 1991 NLCS to go to the World Series. Hopefully, the Atlanta area police can find Nixon before anything bad happens.
