Russell Henley hits a rare eagle on five in the Masters. His second shot on the par-4 plopped right into the hole for everyone’s amusement. It was so loud.
While one Georgia Bulldog didn’t do so hot in the 2017 Masters in the form of two-time champion Bubba Watson, Russell Henley got to play into the weekend. Though he won’t win The Masters this year, he had one of the better shots of the tournament so far.
On his second shot on 5 “Magnolia”, Henley hit it from the fairway right into the cup with a loud thud that everybody in Augusta National had to have heard. Henley could barely believe that he made that ridiculous. Nobody eagles that par-4, but Henley did.

He took it easy, as he didn’t live life in the fast lane on that hole. In the long run, that slick eagle might help him finish under par on the tournament. Henley grew up in Macon and probably dreamed of playing in The Masters. He was actually the last guy to make quality for the 2017 Masters. That shot on “Magnolia” is further illustration that he belongs in golf’s greatest tournament.
Overall, the weather has improved as the tournament has gone along. It was wet and overcast for the better part of Thursday and Friday. The wind was horrible, as it wrecked a few players’ quest to win a Green Jacket. Those who were able to navigate the cutting wind had the opportunity to play in some beautiful weather on Saturday and Sunday.

Henley is only 27 years old and should have more opportunities to get back to Augusta National. Since his final round at the 2017 Masters will be completed before the big dogs head into the back-nine, Henley can sit back and enjoy the show, knowing that he had one of the best shots of the entire tournament.
