On Tuesday, United faced Everton at Old Trafford looking to gain on City. However, it was the Toffees who would strike first. In the 21st minute, Phil Jagielka got his leg on a free ball that found its way through the legs of David de Gea. Daley Blind almost tied it for the Red Devils, but Joel Robles made a fantastic save for Everton. United hit the crossbar twice but could not get anything passed Robles until Manchester United were awarded a penalty kick following an Ashley Williams handball. Zlatan Ibrahimovic stepped up and tied the game with just seconds remaining.
Sunderland ran into red-hot Leicester on Tuesday. The Foxes haven’t lost since firing Claudio Ranieri. Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford kept the game close in the first half, making a number of key saves. In the second half, Islam Slimani headed home a cross to give Leicester the lead. Nine minutes later Marc Albrighton made a great run to win the ball and played it into the middle for Jamie Vardy, who took one touch and finished into the top of the net. The goal secured the win for Leicester.
It’s getting to the point where Sunderland fans have to accept the fact they’ll be getting relegated. The Black Cats are currently eight points back of the safe zone with eight games remaining. Outside of Jermain Defoe’s 14 goals this season, there have been very few positive for the club.
