Could the Buffalo Bills use the 10th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft on a quarterback?

The Buffalo Bills brass spent their Sunday night in North Carolina. Why was their owner, head coach, and owner in North Carolina you ask? The team worked out highly-regarded draft prospect Mitchell Trubisky.

The Bills quarterback situation has been murky to say at the least. The team has two-year starter Tyrod Taylor under contract and recently restructured him on a five-year deal, which really is a two-year commitment. The team clearly isn’t committed to Taylor in the long run, but he has been a productive starter for them throwing for over 3,000 yards in each of his two seasons.

Bills general manager Doug Whaley hasn’t seemed to be pro-Taylor as he instructed former interim head coach Anthony Lynn to sit Taylor late last season rather than risk injury that would’ve given the quarterback his 2017 salary guaranteed.

The Bills have since hired Sean McDermott to be head coach, but still the organization doesn’t seemed married to the idea of Taylor being their franchise quarterback. Bills owner Terry Pegula and McDermott privately worked out Tar Heels quarterback Trubisky yesterday and they didn’t do much to keep it a secret.

The Bills official Twitter account ended up retweeting this particular tweet as well, so now everyone is aware of their workout with Trubisky.

The Bills select 10th-overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, which might end up being out of Trubisky’s range as he’s been mocked as high as second-overall in mock drafts. Still this workout is significant and doesn’t mean the Bills won’t trade up either.

This is something to keep an eye on during the draft. The Bills might be a team to walk away with a quarterback in the first round despite having a productive starter in Taylor.
